Louis Vuitton’s New Babyfoot Foosball Table Costs $75,500 and Is Made to Be Used
Louis Vuitton reveals new hand-made Babyfoot Foosball Table as the latest design in their games range.
Louis Vuitton is known for many things but it’s usually the iconic bags or fashion that comes to mind before a foosball table. The French fashion house has however been creating made-to-order games for many years and has now unveiled their first-ever luxury Le Babyfoot foosball table.
For a game dating back to the early 1890’s, this is the first time the French fashion has delved into the design of a foosball table and have chosen to name it “Babyfoot” in a nod to the French inventor Lucien Rosengart who is said to have invented a version of the table soccer game in the 1930’s to entertain his grandkids and named it “babyfoot”.
Although it appears more like a work of art, the hand-made Louis Vuitton Babyfoot Foosball Table is designed to be fully functional and features monogrammed canvas or leather coverings, enamel monogrammed counting pieces and detailed hand-painted players, inspired by the Tintin-like bellboy (groom) featured in Louis Vuitton’s vintage marketing material from the 1920’s.
Made-to-order at the atelier’s workshop in France, the hand-cast aluminum players can be custom painted to match the table which is available in several color configurations including graphite, pistachio, fuschia, cyan, and tan/white or Louis Vuitton’s famous three-dimensional wave looking EPI leather.
First used by LV in the 1920’s for travel trunks, EPI leather is created by first dyeing the leather, then stamping the wave pattern into the leather and finally painting over it with a colored matched top coat to give it the recognizable hard-wearing horizontal grained look.
The Louis Vuitton Babyfoot Foosball table is available in a canvas version with the distinctive LV monogrammed pattern or “Damier Graphite” for $75,500 or $98,000 for the EPI/VVT leather versions.
