Revealed in a short video by company owners Alois Ruf Jr. & Estonia Ruf (pronounced “Roof”), the two latest editions to the RUF lineup were initially planned to make their public debut at the Geneva Motor Show. However with the cancellation of the event due to the Coronavirus travel restrictions, RUF Automobile instead chose to film the unveiling video at their headquarters in Pfaffenhausen, Germany.

Introducing the RUF Rodeo Concept Car first, Alois explained the concept was the brainchild of his wife Estonia, who further elaborated saying her inspiration came from her years living in Kansas and Oklahoma (where Alois and Estonia first met) and the love of off-road cars.

Painted in split-tone colours representing the “golden sands” of rallying and a similar olive green to the 80’s RUF Porsche inspired NATO mule, the mid-western styled off-roader is RUF’s first 4WD version and is built on the new monocoque carbon chassis of the CTR.

Designed to be versatile, the “Rodeo” (pronounced Row-Day-Oh) is easily able to traverse cross-country with its roof-rack and luggage as much as it can be taken off-road and thrashed as a rally car.

Inside, RUF have had a little fun with the design and wanted to put a smile on drivers & passengers faces when interacting with the unique interior elements featured like the chapped leather side-saddle storage bags attached to the doors and the South West/Navajo Indian inspired materials on the seats.

At the heart of the RUF Rodeo Concept is a naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 500HP that can be upgraded to a turbo version if desired. The Rodeo also features a 6 speed gearbox with a control dial that allows drivers to adjust how much front wheel or rear wheel drive they want.

Unveiled next was RUF’s first production model of the Porsche inspired SCR, a 4.0 litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine vehicle capable of producing 510 HP and reaching speeds of up to 199mph, that first debuted as a concept car at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

Painted in the same colour as the concept car that debuted two years ago at the 2018 Geneva Motor show, the “RUF Green” is also a small tribute to the classic colour featured on the 1978 RUF SCR model. While some may consider themselves strict Porsche Purists and choose to steer clear of an aftermarket tuner like RUF, for the right owner they’ll appreciate the craftsmanship of a RUF SCR and the Rodeo Concept will tick every mid-western loving box.
