To start the year, British automaker Bentley Motors has revealed the new 2021 Bentayga Hybrid SUV model as part of the next step towards their “Beyond100” strategy, a plan which will see Bentley exclusively offer plug-in hybrid or battery vehicles by 2026 and become an EV-only brand by 2030.
Said to be the first of two new Bentley PHEV’s the brand will be launching this year, the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid will be offered alongside the 2021 Bentayga V8 and Bentayga Speed models.

Utilizing an E Motor paired with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, the Bentayga Hybrid edition delivers 443 bhp (449 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque and offers a combined range of 536 miles (with a 31 mile range in pure electric drive).
Powered by a lithium battery which can be charged to 100% in just under two and a half hours (depending on geographical location), the E Motor is found within the transmission between the gearbox and internal combustion engine. It allows the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid to deliver full torque instantaneously from a stationary position, providing swift and yet silent acceleration. Because of this, a dedicated speaker alerts nearby bystanders by emitting a sound when the vehicle is operating at low speeds, to ensure their safety.

According to research performed by Bentley, over 90% of previous first-generation Bentayga Hybrid customers already use their vehicles daily or at least several times a week, in EV mode for short trips under 30 miles, meaning the majority of trips taken by clients can be achieved in electric mode only while producing zero emissions.
Featuring an updated exterior, the new model has been given a few Continental GT inspired details with JP Gregory, Head of Exterior Design at Bentley Motors sharing, “ “We spent a long time examining how to improve the proportions and character of the car. The new Bentayga is still instantly recognizable as a Bentley but now has a much greater road presence, a more self-confident looking SUV from whatever angle you look at the car. The prouder grill and higher, more focused elliptical headlights give a much more modern expression.”
