In the wake of the COVID-19 induced cancellation of last year’s New York Auto Show, Californian technology company Hyperion revealed the prototype for the hydrogen-powered XP-1 online.

It has now been spotted in all of its physical glory and photographed out on the streets of Hollywood and around Los Angles as part of an ongoing photographic roadshow.

Wrapped in the same two-toned camo it was spotted wearing in Las Vegas earlier this year, the undeniable Hyperion XP-1 dropped hashtagged hints #hype and “bringing space technology to the roads” as it stealthily made its way through the streets of Hollywood.

Said to be capable of a 1,000-mile range, the Hyperion XP-1 is powered by lightweight hydrogen storage technology that is lighter than standard lithium batteries, allowing the XP-1 to reach 0-60mph (0-96km/h) in 2.2 seconds and a top speed of 220mph (256km/h).

While Hyperion has offered no other new information in relation to the new images shared, previous details confirm 300 XP-1 vehicles are expected to be produced beginning in 2022.
