Inspired by the launch of the 1:8 scale LEGO Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, the Technic team has created a life-sized version using 400,000 LEGO technic pieces.

Inspired by the launch of the 1:8 scale LEGO Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, Automobili Lamborghini and the LEGO Technic team have collaborated once again, only this time to build a life-sized version of Lamborghini’s first hybrid supercar.

Using over 154 different types of LEGO elements and 400,000 LEGO Technic pieces, a team of fifteen engineers, designers, and building specialists recreated a life-sized version of the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 that mirrors the dimensions right down to the last millimeter.

Weighing 2,200kg in total, the life-size model was built by LEGO’s build team in Kladno, Czech Republic, and took 5,370 hours to develop and 3,290 hours to build – for a total project completion time of 8,660 hours.

“Our designers love a challenge, so you can imagine their delight when we tasked them to think slightly larger than normal with this model,” says Lena Dixen, Senior Vice President of Product and Marketing at the LEGO Group. “They jumped at the chance of teaming up with our amazing designers and engineers from our model production workshop at the Kladno factory in the Czech Republic who build these impressive life-size models and really pushing the boundaries of what can be done with LEGO Technic. The creativity that the system allows meant it was possible to really do justice to the exceptional design of the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37.”

Infusing Lamborghini’s “design DNA” throughout the entire build, Lamborghini’s hexagonal shapes appear throughout the design, beginning with the hexagonal Technic shapes covering the proportion-perfect frame and continue throughout the remainder of the car to the hexagonal tail-lights and exhaust pipes.

In a nod to the translation of the Italian word “Sían,” meaning “flash” or “lightning,” LEGO experts have incorporated electrical lights into a lightning bolt design that flashes along the exterior body. At the same time, the interior also bears elements of the Italian brand with a small Italian flag and the Lamborghini logo found on the brick-built steering wheel.

The LEGO Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 is also the first large-scale model from the LEGO Group to have an automotive paintbrush-effect UV color coating applied to ensure the model lasts a lifetime and is applied by Lamborghini’s official paint shop to exactly match the 1:8 scale model.

While the life-size LEGO Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 is only available for viewing and not for sale, LEGO and Lamborghini fans alike can still get a hold of the smaller 1:8 scale model at LEGO.com while stocks last.
