Brabham has revealed the new concept for the BT63 GT2 – a racing upgrade that will allow it to compete in upcoming GT2 series racing.
This week, Australian-based Brabham revealed the new BT63 GT2 concept as a purely racing upgrade of the BT62R road-going supercar.
Designed and engineered by the same team that delivered the road-variant BT62R, the BT63 GT2 utilizes the same platform and also features a large rear wing design and new rear diffuser.
While full technical details are yet to be revealed, is said to aim to produce 600 HP and weigh between 2,755 – 2,866 lb (approx. 1,250 and 1,300 kgs).
With all going well, the Brabham BT63 GT2 concept will be ready to race by 2022 where it is already signed up for the 2022 Fanatec GT2 European Series and will race alongside other modified supercars from Lamborghini, Porsche, and Audi in the GT2 racing category, specifically developed by SRO Motorsport as a more affordable option alongside the GT3 race class.
Brabham is also looking to trial the new GT2 racer earlier and will race at the Circuit Paul Ricard this coming October as part of the inaugural 2021 Fanatec GT2 European Series (the same track the Brabham’s former Formula One claimed their last victory at in 1985).
Brabham and SRO Motorsports Group will use this opportunity to work closely on the homologation requirements for the 2022 season.
The Brabham BT63 GT2 will be available to purchase as a customer race car with prices starting at 400,000 euros (approximately $473,600).
