New Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended Model Offers More Even Room
Earlier this year, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced an entirely new update of the Ghost, and now an extended version of the model has also been revealed.
Created in response to feedback from a new generation of Rolls-Royce owners, the Ghost Extended is 6 inches (170mm) longer than the new standard Ghost and allows for more legroom for the rear-seat passengers. It also offers the most amount of legroom in a four-seater sedan with the exception of the Phantom Extended).
“New Ghost is the result of in-depth dialogue with Rolls-Royce’s diverse and global customer base,” shared Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Chief Executive Officer Torsten Müller-Ötvös. ”Many of them asked the marque to create a motor car that provides the indulgence of enhanced rear space within the interior suite with no compromise to driving dynamics.”
Like many of the Rolls-Royce models, the Ghost Extended is designed for the owner who desires a chauffeur-driven vehicle during work hours and transforms into a self-driven saloon on the weekends.
In order to maintain the elegant design of the Ghost, Rolls-Royce’s designers worked to cloak the extra length by only extending the rear door and body around the rear door apertures to preserve the lines of the car.
The interior cabin of the Ghost Extended also sees the addition of a reclining Serenity Seat for the first time and includes a champagne fridge with two cooling modes (six degrees for non-vintage Champagne and 11 degrees for vintage Champagne) between the rear seats.
Powered by a new 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, the Ghost Extended produces 571 PS and 850Nm of torque for a powerful drive, while still providing Rolls-Royce’s trademark Magic Carpet Ride.
The Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended is available now, with first customer deliveries set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2020.
