Feadship’s 180ft “Somnium” Superyacht Nearing Completion
The new Feadship 180ft “Somnium” superyacht is nearing completion and will be ready for family-friendly world cruises after sea trials.
Dutch shipyard Feadship has shared images of the newly-built 55m Somnium superyacht emerging from the shipyard in Aalsmeer earlier this week ahead of its sea trials.
Somnium, meaning “Dream” in Latin, is the first fully customized superyacht for its seasoned Northern European owner who plans to travel the world with three generations of family members.
Designed by Studio De Voogt, the first fully customized superyacht for the seasoned Northern European owner was created with a cozy interior design by FM Architettura.
Together with his representative Ron Kleverlaan from Waterman Marine Consultancy, the owner chose Feadship after a comprehensive study of which yard could meet his insistence on a bespoke build without compromising on quality.
Convinced that no one else could meet his stringent demands, the owner opted for Feadship and poured his heart and soul into the project, making bi-weekly visits to the yard during the build and regularly enjoying a beer with the build team on Fridays.
As a fan of fast cars, the owner of Somnium was keen for the aluminum hull to sport a similar sporty line which enhances efficiency and ensures shallow drafts required for exploring at will. Once anchored at their destination, the family can access all the benefits of an enclosed tender garage and dedicated dive equipment store.
For guests who choose to stay on board, Somnium’s vast outside decks include an exclusive lounge area on the foredeck, a pool with adjustable floor and counterflow on the aft deck, and an inviting Jacuzzi island on the sun deck.
Interior highlights to be revealed in due course include a gymnasium with a fold-down platform, a full-beam owners’ stateroom with a balcony, and four roomy guest suites on the lower deck.
The Feadship built Somnium will now complete sea trials ahead of her final delivery to the owner.
