It’s been over six years since H.Moser & Cie first made the bold commitment to remove their logo from the Concept watch dials and hope clients would still choose the watches based on their signature fumé dials and mechanical merit along.

Now Moser has taken it one step further with the new Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept watch created in collaboration with Parisian “watch-hand-customizer” seconde/seconde/ who has added his signature touch in the form of a tiny pixelated eraser in place of the traditional hour hand.

Artist seconde/seconde/ aka Romaric Andre has built his business on re-imagining vintage watches by swapping out elements, with miniaturized icons explicitly chosen for the individual watch. Each of these tiny “elements” has been handbuilt by master craftspeople and perfectly weighted for the specific vintage models to ensure the watches continue to operate as they should.

Parisian artist seconde/seconde/ explains his philosophy: “The “hand swap” – this principle designed to switch one or more hands on an existing watch – has become my signature and, for me, it is driven by a latent disrespect impulse. I want to upset the balance. Create disharmony. This dissonance is my way of disorienting the product, deconstructing it. So that I can then reconstruct it. To reveal an unknown facet or show another perspective. My perspective. The eraser, I see it as a banal everyday object which is taking power over the prestigious exceptional object.”

“It is a metaphor for removal and for minimalism – notions clearly dear to H. Moser – but also a metaphor for that constant striving effort, for these fruitless attempts, often hidden from view, that we erase a thousand times before solving the equation, before successfully completing this work. To sometimes find what you seek, you must constantly make mistakes, and erase”.

Contrasting against Moser’s signature Funky Blue fumé dial, the vivid pink and blue eraser plays on H.Moser & Cie’s decision to clear the dial of all markings. As CEO Edouard Meylan explains, “by adding a disruptive element, seconde/seconde/ flips the aesthetic, providing a welcome contrast whilst respecting the elegance inherent to this model, playing with the very concept of our dials without logo or indices”.

The H.Moser & Cie Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept is powered by Moser’s self-winding caliber HMC 200 and has a minimum power reserve of three days.
