Pagani Confirms New Huayra R Is Coming

New Pagani Huayra R to be revealed November 12, with Horacio Pagani confirming it will be powered by a newly designed aspirated engine.

Horacio Pagani has confirmed the “genesis of Huayra R” will be revealed November 12 as part of the Autostyle Design Competition.

An important event in the calendar of car lovers and design students, the Autostyle Design Competition brings together design students and the design centers from Pagani, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Dallara, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Toyota, and Ford in a series of webinar presentations from the designers over two months, as students take inspiration and compete to create the winning concept car design.

While the reveal will not take place until Pagani’s presentation on November 12, Horacio Pagani noted a new aspirated engine has been designed for the Huayra R.

Following in the footsteps of the Zonda R developed in 2009, the Huayra R is likely set to be a track-only version and the most powerful Pagani to date.

It is also likely the new vehicle will make use of the weight-saving “Acquerello Light” paint system used on the Huayra Imola, reducing the weight of the paint by 5kg while still maintaining the same color and shine.

“The paint of a vehicle is not just an aesthetic requirement, but has essential technical functions, such as protecting from external influences and preventing the ageing of the material, in particular of advanced composites,” shared Horacio Pagani. “We managed to create a protection shield capable of isolating the underlying material from external threats, consequently increasing its impact resistance, and after years of research to optimize our painting system with the aim of significantly reducing weight, we are proud to finally announce the achievement of this milestone with such a special car as the Imola. The new technology will obviously be available on future Pagani models”.

As reported by The SupercarBlog, the new Pagani Huayra R is said to be powered by a new V12 engine capable of producing 900 HP, built by AMG and developed in collaboration with HWA (the same team behind the Apollo Intensa Emozione).
