The New 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Unveiled
The new highly anticipated 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 smashes previous generation Nürburgring lap time by 17 seconds and is the first 992 GT3 with a naturally aspirated flat-six engine.
The new 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 is one of the most anticipated sports cars of the year and has already proven itself by completing a lap of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife over 17 seconds quicker than its predecessor, the sixth generation 911 GT3.
Developed in collaboration with Porsche Motorsport, the new seventh-generation Porsche 911 GT3 (driven by development driver Lars Kern ) completed the 12.9-mile lap in just 6:59:927, running on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
Besides boasting a faster lap time and more than 150% more downforce than its predecessor, the new street-legal 911 GT3 is also the first 992 generation GT3 to be powered by Porche’s flat-six boxer engine. It can accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds (PDK) or 3.9 seconds with the manual gearbox and has a top speed of 197mph.
While the new 911 GT3 boasts a broader body and larger wheels with a stack of additional tech features, the weight remains relatively unchanged thanks to the use of lightweight glass windows, carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components, forged light-alloy wheels, and a lightweight sports exhaust system.
Inside, the new 2022 Porsche 911 GT3’s cockpit has been designed in line with the current model generation and features an additional new track screen that displays essential data for circuit use.
The price for the new 2022 edition is yet to be announced but is expected to be upwards of the last generation’s US$145,650 starting price. Porsche dealership deliveries are scheduled for Fall 2021.
