The Cheltenham Festival is one of the most prestigious horse racing events on the UK calendar and held in March each year. Its race prize money is second only to the UK’s Grand National race. The meeting usually coincides with Saint Patrick’s Day and is particularly popular with Irish visitors. The famed race has now also provided inspiration for Bentley’s latest release, the Bentley Mulliner Continental GT Convertible Equestrian Edition which has now just been released 4 days prior to this years 2020 race start.
Bentley’s newly formed Bentley Mulliner Collections arm is responsible for the new design and marks its first ‘Collections’ creation. In my eyes the team have done a fantastic job pulling together colors, textures and elements to embody the world of equine and much of what it symbolizes. This car is a luxurious farm, castle and a horse race rolled into one.
All of these scenarios would involve either swathes of lush green grass or wooded forests, so it’s no surprise the Mulliner Collections team have opted for a delicious Spruce Green exterior paint finish to the Bentley Equestrian Edition.
Stepping outside onto an estate or about to lead a horse around the fields, a good pair of black boots wouldn’t be uncommon and no less so with Bentley Mulliner’s new creation.
Gloss black 22-inch Mulliner Driving Specification wheels are the shoes of the Bentley Equestrian Edition, while the doors are clothed in authentic tweed fabric. The Continental Blackline specification treatment has also ensured bright chrome has been replaced with gloss black versions to all exterior brightware, bezels, radiator grill and exhaust outlets.
The use of straight grain single veneer Burr Walnut and box wood inlays give the Equestrian Edition a stately and formal presence. Echoes of the original Cheltenham Gold Cup trophy see a rich gold horse and rider detail placed on the passenger side fascia, while stepping out of the car you will see the shiny badges of the Bentley Mulliner branded treadplates.
Stitched horse and rider silhouettes adorn all four seats that are finished in the aptly named sustainable Saddle Hide with the interior also featuring a Cumbrian Green secondary hide to complement the equestrian theme.
Bentley’s Equestrian Edition open top Grand Tourer has all the usual state of the art tech you would find in other Continental GT editions such as Bentley’s Touring specification that includes lane assist, adaptive cruise control, Bentley Safeguard Plus, night vision and head-up display.
The Equestrian Edition also has Bentley’s City Specification incorporating top view camera, traffic sign recognition, city assist, pedestrian warning, reversing traffic warning, automatic dimming mirrors and hands-free boot opening.
If you’re one of the big winners at this year’s Cheltenham Festival then maybe The Bentley Mulliner Continental GT Convertible Equestrian Edition would be a great way to commemorate the occasion?
