ARES S1 Project Spyder Concept Revealed: Limited to 24 vehicles

Italian coachbuilder ARES has revealed the S1 Project Spyder, a new roofless version of their first-ever supercar. Only 24 will be produced with the order book open now.

Earlier this year at the annual Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace, Italian coachbuilder ARES Design launched the S1 Project, its first-ever supercar designed entirely from the ground up. Now in the wake of its successful introduction to the market, ARES has decided to follow up with the roofless ARES S1 Project Spyder.

“We had always planned a Spyder version of the S1 Project and since we revealed that car last month the reaction has been fantastic, so we are very pleased to release details of the S1 Project Spyder,” shared Dany Bahar, ARES Co-Founder. “We wanted to create a model that is a true tribute to the pleasure of sport driving. This new Barchetta version adds more charm to the S1 Project design as it takes additional inspiration from the world of motorsport and the racing cars of the past.”

Described as a hypercar design, with supercar performance and a sports car price tag, the initial ARES S1 Project created a dramatically low-profile silhouette. It is the same profile that the hand-crafted barchetta version is based upon.

Like it’s roofed sibling, the rear-wheel drive Spyder will be limited to only 24 vehicles and features the same naturally aspirated V8 engine and 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, capable of a maximum of 8,800rpm, producing an anticipated 0-62mph(0-100kph) in 2.7s and maximum power of 522kw (715hp).

Following in the footsteps of models like the Ferrari SP1 and McLaren Elva, the S1 Project Spyder does away with the windscreen and instead utilizes two carbon fiber wind deflectors. These work to redirect the air current over the passengers and into the air intakes behind the headrests, creating a virtual canopy around the passengers for maximum comfort when driving.

Inside, the ARES S1 Project Spyder shares the same elegant lines throughout the Alcantara cabin and is finished in Napa leather with carbon fiber and aluminum elements. The HM1 (Human-Machine Interface) is still found within the center console and dashboard.

Although no prices have been revealed yet, the S1 project was in the ballpark of €500k as an indication and ARES Design have revealed only twenty-four units will be built to order, with order books already open.

Bentley Celebrates Flying Spur Hybrid With “Odyssean Edition”

New Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid “Odyssean Edition” is the first production Bentley to introduce elements of the futuristic EXP 100 GT concept car.

Earlier this year, Bentley revealed the new Flying Spur Hybrid as their second electric model, and to celebrate the launch, they’ve created a special “Odyssean Edition” that takes inspiration from Bentley’s futuristic EXP 100 GT concept car.

As the first production Bentley to introduce details seen in the concept vehicle that imagines the future of luxury mobility in 2035, the new Flying Spur Hybrid Odyssean Edition introduces a range of new sustainable materials that enhance the design without compromising the level of luxury expected of a Bentley.

Like other Flying Spur models, the “Odyssean Edition” also uses Bentley’s signature Flying spur “lofted diamond” pattern throughout the interior and features tweed material made from 100% British wool especially made for Bentley, Koa veneers, sustainable leathers, and specially engraved treadplates and D-pillar badging.

For the exterior of the Flying Spur Odyssean Edition, owners have a choice from a curated palette of six colors to complement the detailing and have five interior specifications to choose from, including Beluga, Porpoise, Cricket Ball, Brunel or Burnt Oak (owners are still able to select from the full range of Bentley colors if they desire).

The Flying Spur Hybrid Odyssean Edition is powered by a 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 engine combined with an advanced electric motor that together delivers 536 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque for a 0-60mph time of 4.1 seconds. When fully fuelled, the Odyssean will be able to travel over 435 miles due to the new powertrain that requires significantly less fuel.

Like other Bentley models, owners can review various options and data through the My Bentley app, including the “find my car” and “lock my car” feature, location of e-charging stations, remote initiation of battery charging, and cabin comfort control.

The new limited-edition McLaren 765LT Spider is McLaren’s most powerful convertible yet and offers owners the Longtail driving experience.

McLaren has revealed the McLaren 765LT Spider as the brand’s most powerful convertible to date and fastest accelerating LT Spider yet.

Following on from the McLaren 765LT “Longtail” coupe unveiled last year, the new 765LT Spider will be limited to only 765 vehicles to match the production numbers of the already sold-out coupe.

The 765LT Spider, like its predecessors, stays true to the Longtail principles first developed over 25 years ago and features McLaren’s triple-patented retractable hard top roof for a driving experience that puts the driver at the center of the action.

“Lowering the convertible roof of the 765LT Spider opens up another level of driver engagement. The coupe is impressive in its own right, but when you lower the roof of the Spider, there is a step-change in character – almost a theatrical element, like experiencing a live orchestra from right in front of the stage,” shared Ian Howshall, Global Product Manager, McLaren Automotive.

As the most powerful convertible to date (not including the Elva, which doesn’t have a roof and thus can’t “convert”), the 765LT Spider is powered by the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine to produce 765PS and 800Nm of torque, hitting 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 205mph.

Pricing of the McLaren 765LT Spider starts at £310, 500 with availability limited to only 765 cars for customer order worldwide and production capacity for 2021 already filled.

The Final Bugatti Divo Delivered To European Customer

Bugatti has revealed the 40th and final Bugatti Divo hypercar has been completed at the Molsheim factory and delivered to a European customer.

A little over three years ago, Bugatti announced the Divo as a revival of its coachbuilding division and has now completed the last and final Bugatti Divo of the 40 bespoke vehicles built in total.

Delivered to a European customer, the final Bugatti Divo is finished in Bugatti EB 110 Blue with contrasting Blue Carbon and an interior with French Racing Blue and Deep Blue accents.

Following in the footsteps of Bugatti’s historic coach-built vehicles, each of the 40 Bugatti Divo’s has been individually styled by the owners with various colors, materials, and bespoke design features to ensure that none are identical.

Where the coach-built Bugatti’s of the past have consisted of various bodywork shapes tailored around a single chassis, owners of the Divo have been able to push the envelope with the design and development team being able to modify one-off technical components to create entirely individual models to suit the driving style of the owners.

“As well as unique design, customers who buy a coach-built model enjoy a new, individual driving experience,” explains Pierre Rommelfanger, Head of Overall Vehicle Development at Bugatti. “Each small series undergoes the same degree of development as would a larger production run.”

Named after the French race car driver Albert Divo, who scored a series of race victories for Bugatti over a 20-year period, in honor of him and headquarters in Molsheim, the French flag adorns the Divo’s left and right front fenders as seen on the final Divo to leave the factory.

Priced at five million euros, the Bugatti Divo was Bugatti’s most expensive model when it was first announced in 2018 and was sold within weeks of its first reveal to select customers.
