Wine lovers of Miami, this event is for you.

Hosted by acclaimed wine critic James Suckling, Great Wines of the World is an interactive walk-around experience held at the Moore Building in the Design District, allowing guests to taste and experience outstanding wines from some of the world’s most renowned vineyards and boutique wineries.

This will be the first time this handpicked collection of wine has been brought to the United States (following sold out events in Asia) and features over 120 top producers from around the globe, including Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, Opus and Antinori.

Guests in attendance can be guaranteed all wines on display have received a minimum score of 90 points by James Suckling himself (with most having a score of 95 and 16 with a perfect score of 100) and will also have the opportunity to hear directly from the owners and winemakers of these iconic wineries, who will be sharing industry insights and presenting top vintages for tasting.

“I hope that Great Wines of the World in Miami will become the iconic fine wine event for Latin America as well as the United States. Miami is the new center of the universe for fine wines and it is a portal for the fine wine world in Latin America, just like Hong Kong is for Asia.” said James Suckling, who has rated more than 25,000 wines from around the world with his small team of tasters and spends a month a year in South America tasting more than 2,000 wines.

New Limited Editions of Hublot Big Bang Sang Bleu II Released

Maxime Plescia Buchi in Los Angeles with Hublot Big Bang Unico Sang Bleu II

The Hublot Sang Bleu II was first released in late 2019 and now in early 2020 we have new limited editions released.

  • 2016 Hublot Big Bang Sang Bleu released
  • 2019 Hublot Big Bang Sang Bleu II released
  • 2020 New Sang Bleu II limited editions released

What and who is Sang Bleu?

In 2014, Swiss tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Büchi opened his London based tattoo studio, Sang Bleu. The direct translation of Sang Bleu is “blue blood” and Maxime chose this as a fitting name for a business that mixes blood, colour and ink.

Aside from the name’s subliminal hint to tattooing, Sang Bleu, “blue blood” refers to nobility—its origins based on the medieval belief that the blood of the noble class was indeed blue. While talking to a popular digital magazine, Maxime elaborated on the name choice, “I just wanted to show together all the things I thought were noble and beautiful with disregard for the usual cultural and social categories of what is glorified as fine or frowned upon as underground or marginal cultures.”

Hublot Sang Bleu history

Back In 2016, Maxime’s first collaboration with Hublot was to create the Hublot Big Bang Sang Bleu.

More recently in September 2019, Maxime headed to Los Angeles to exhibit another new Hublot watch he had designed, the Big Bang Sang Bleu II. The new Big Bang Sang Bleu II was designed to be the horological expression of a tattoo, set in motion with timeless precision, unifying materials and crafts through geometry by Sang Bleu’s founder.

Touted as more ambitious than the original Big Bang Sang Bleu launched in 2016, the 2019 Big Bang Sang Bleu II features a case with more finely chiselled lines conveyed in three dimensions and molded onto the interchangeable bracelet. The hands – two elongated diamonds and an arrow – are stylized fragments of tattoos, set above a hypnotic chronographic movement. This edition saw the watch featured a matt black dial and black rubber strap.

A couple of months later in November, Maxime headed to Russia where he launched a super exclusive new ladies version of Big Bang Sang Bleu. Limited to just 50 examples, the watch was produced to only be available for purchase in Russia and named the Big Bang One Click Sang Bleu Steel Turquoise.

Its turquoise blue dial is framed with a hexagonal bezel set with 48 diamonds while the interwoven geometric shapes extend from the dial and along the 39 mm diameter steel case. The watch is also paired with a turquoise blue calfskin leather strap from Schedoni, which also features lines traced by Maxime Plescia-Büchi. The strap features the One Click system, a patented attachment system that makes it easy to make bold style statements by simplifying strap changes.

Latest limited editions

Now in 2020 a new limited edition of the Sang Bleu II has been released. These latest versions fully embrace the interpretation of “Blue Blood” and are predominantly blue, just like the ink used by Maxime’s tattoo studio. A new matt blue colour appears on the dials (previously black) with the option to pair the case with the traditional black or new blue strap, embellished by a web of geometric lines that also criss-cross the hands, bezel and case. The watch is available in titanium or King Gold, with or without stone setting and boasting a generous diameter of 45 mm. The case houses a Unico manufacture movement, the HUB1240 automatic chronograph, and offers a 72-hour power reserve.

Limited to only 88 pieces, the Titanium Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watch is the latest country-specific edition and will only be available in China and Hong Kong boutiques.

Created in collaboration with the well respected watch collector @Horoloupe (Instagram) aka Austen Chu, an avid long time collector and supporter of the Audemars Piguet brand, it is the first fully titanium Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar and features a 41mm case with titanium bracelet. It also comes with a red rubber strap and grey alligator strap so you have choices in case the full titanium look isn’t working for you.

The watch’s functions include a perpetual calendar with week indication, day, date, moonphase, month, leap year, hours and minutes, on a slate-grey Grande Tapisserie dial with black subdials.

Understandably honored to work with Audemars Piguet on this edition, Chu states “this watch embodies both tradition and modernity, prospering in tandem with craftsmanship. We chose to contrast the gunmetal titanium with the dark-red week indicator with matching straps, incorporating my Chinese heritage into the piece. Being able to collaborate with AP is a truly fun and eye opening experience.”

Each limited edition is priced at approx. US$78,300, except for the first piece of the collection having already been auctioned for charity and raising CHF300,000 (approx USD $310,000) towards environmental relief in China.
