Following from their Stormbreaker superyacht concept, Berlin-based architecture and design firm T.Fotiadis Design has shared the latest vision to come from their creative drawing boards – the high-security superyacht concept known as “Ultra2”.

Measuring 311ft (94m) in length, Ultra2 has been designed with a focus on maximum security and aims to achieve “Ultra quality in both style and eco-friendliness” (hence the name).

Dutch shipyard Feadship has shared images of the newly-built 55m Somnium superyacht emerging from the shipyard in Aalsmeer earlier this week ahead of its sea trials.

Somnium, meaning “Dream” in Latin, is the first fully customized superyacht for its seasoned Northern European owner who plans to travel the world with three generations of family members.

Designed by Studio De Voogt, the first fully customized superyacht for the seasoned Northern European owner was created with a cozy interior design by FM Architettura.

Together with his representative Ron Kleverlaan from Waterman Marine Consultancy, the owner chose Feadship after a comprehensive study of which yard could meet his insistence on a bespoke build without compromising on quality.

Convinced that no one else could meet his stringent demands, the owner opted for Feadship and poured his heart and soul into the project, making bi-weekly visits to the yard during the build and regularly enjoying a beer with the build team on Fridays.

As a fan of fast cars, the owner of Somnium was keen for the aluminum hull to sport a similar sporty line which enhances efficiency and ensures shallow drafts required for exploring at will. Once anchored at their destination, the family can access all the benefits of an enclosed tender garage and dedicated dive equipment store.

For guests who choose to stay on board, Somnium’s vast outside decks include an exclusive lounge area on the foredeck, a pool with adjustable floor and counterflow on the aft deck, and an inviting Jacuzzi island on the sun deck.

Interior highlights to be revealed in due course include a gymnasium with a fold-down platform, a full-beam owners’ stateroom with a balcony, and four roomy guest suites on the lower deck.

The Feadship built Somnium will now complete sea trials ahead of her final delivery to the owner.

Superyacht shipyard Oceanco, Pininfarina design studio, and Lateral Naval Architects have recently collaborated for the first time on a 295ft hybrid superyacht concept known as KAIROS that focuses on sustainability and innovation.

The futuristic design takes its name from an ancient Greek word meaning “time” and is based on Oceanco’s NXT initiative, a movement designed to draw industry members and users together to explorers a future where yacht owners can experience life on the water in the most sustainable and rewarding way possible while reducing the burning of fossil fuels to propel and operate yachts.

“Oceanco NXT represents our commitment, and fundamental belief that the best way to set new benchmarks is to co-create them with experts from a wide array of industries – not just yachting. In creating Oceanco NXT, we seek partners who share a common ambition to innovate and forge a sustainable pathway for tomorrow’s yachts. We are invested in an outcome where the future is zero [emissions],” says Marcel Onkenhout, CEO of Oceanco.

Developed around an E-Hybrid propulsion system that uses batteries as the primary energy source, the new KAIROS hybrid superyacht concept is a step toward creating the envisioned zero-emissions future.

“KAIROS is a remarkable vision shared by three passionate, forward-thinking partners: Pininfarina, Lateral and Oceanco,” shared Oceanco CEO Marcel Onkenhout. “When Owners see the Oceanco NXT endorsement on a yacht’s design, they know they can expect elevated standards of life onboard that are in tune with new perspectives on sustainability and lifestyle.”

“Our passion as designers is to imagine new concepts of space that are capable of bringing enchantment to every moment of the yachting experience,” adds Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman of Pininfarina.

Further details are expected to be released over the coming months.

Dutch-based Diana Yacht Design first opened its doors in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, in 1971, and after more than 70 superyacht deliveries, they are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with the reveal of a bold new sub-500 GT superyacht design known as DIANA R.50.

Measuring 154ft (47m) in length, the idea behind the DIANA R.50 concept was to create a yacht design that maximizes what you can do with a boat coming in below 500 GT.

Featuring bold lines and a two-tone color scheme of Chevy White and Gunmetal Grey, the DIANA R.50 offers an open layout that provides expansive views from every deck and maximizes living spaces for the 12 guests onboard.

An integrated Jacuzzi on the sun deck, accompanied by a large entertaining bar and a dining area, creates the perfect entertaining space and includes a touch-and-go helipad for an EC135 helicopter for guests leaving and returning to the superyacht.

Discussing the concept for DIANA R.50, Hans-Maarten Bais, Diana Yacht Creative Director, shared, “She started life after a discussion with a client. As a finalist in the Boat International Young Design Awards, our designer Casper Marelis was full of fantastic ideas. Together with our team of naval architects, supervised by Bart de Haan, he created a design and presented a yacht that the client loved.”

“Ultimately, the project did not go ahead, but we knew that this design was too good to hide away. We decided to revisit the design together with the DIANA team for our 50th anniversary. We expanded on the original concept to create something really unique. “

“The goal was to create a yacht that feels huge and is full of superyacht features – all while remaining under that crucial 500 GT mark,” continued Bais. “From the incredible toy storage and a touch-and-go helipad to the sun-drenched sundeck complete with Jacuzzi and full entertainment area, the result is something special. DIANA is a team passionate about life on the ocean, and R.50 is a yacht that fully represents that. There’s no better way to mark 50 years of DIANA.”
